A spiral staircase of high-contrast shadows,

is partially eclipsed by the upper-level

of the same spiral stair-case's shadow.

Once walking on it we know.

We are subject to the weight of the re-enforced concrete of it all.

We see ourselves in photographs held up by what we eat.

We wish to walk on walls of tile.

Yet, we become transfixed by images of places far beyond us.

Bearing Traits is an exhibition by London-based artist Henna Vainio.
She graduated from the Slade School of Fine Art in 2013 and holds a bachelor degree from Chelsea College of Arts, London. Recent group exhibitions include Points of Contact, No Format, London, 2014,
